It’s been quite a while since I last posted here. I’ve been busy both inside and outside of work. Outside of work I haven’t been completely cut off from the web. In fact I’ve been busier than ever on that front! I’ve made updates to both backprop.net and bonsaibugs.org

backprop.net

backprop.net like robwall.com is now running Textpattern My objective with the backprop.net domain is to return it to its original mission – to provide information about backpropagation neural networks. In fact I’ve actually broadened that topic to include all areas of machine learning that interest me and/or interesting articles that I come across. Posts there should become more frequent starting very soon.

bonsaibugs.org

bonsaibugs.org hasn’t actually changed. What I’ve worked on has been the all new incarnation which will ultimately run on the same server as robwall.com. I’ve documented my previous disastrous move to this server here before. This time however I will be using static rendering (I’m fairly convinced that the previous problems were attributed to the thousands of files that needed to be stat’ed every time a page was requested. I hope to complete this implementation in the next few weeks.

This new implementation will include:

A full featured administration interface allowing me to control what is displayed.
All current features of bonsaibugs.org (Ok, not quite true – comments will be disabled – but they’re not used much anyway)
Bugs will be filtered by product – this should lead to a more accurate view of bugs (Firefox only appearing under Firefox directory etc.)

Possible additions:

I’m hoping to open the administration interface to Jesse Ruderman so he can fine tune the bugs displayed (that should make it simpler for him to run his excellent Burning Edge site. My custom front end for Bugzilla may also be of use to him for tracking regressions.
I will try to get the RSS to link to individual bugs
I might try to link directly to bonsai showing only the checkin relevent to a particular bug number
