The Unburied, by Charles Palliser

Having read and enjoyed immensely The Quincunx, also by Charles Palliser several years ago, the chance of reading another book by this author was never going to be missed. Upon seeing this book as part of a 3 for 2 offer in Waterstones in Dublin, I simply needed to chose two other books.

It has been a couple of months since I read the book now but it was worth the read. It is certainly not as detailed or as complex as The Quincunx, however, that does not detract from its twisting tales that come together well at the end. In essence the book revolves around two mysteries. The first is a murder based firmly in the past and the other is based in the present (although present in the book is in fact the mid 19th century if I recall correctly) with a single main protagonist heavily involved in both. If you like murder mysteries, then this book is certainly worth a read, however, if you like brilliant books read The Quincunx instead.
